Quantum Physicist

The Israeli Quantum Computing Center (IQCC) is a state-of-the-art facility incorporating several quantum computing technologies tightly integrated with high performance computing (HPC) resources. The IQCC is built and operated by Quantum Machines (QM), a global leader in control systems for quantum computing, a field on the verge of exponential growth. We are assembling a world-class team of professionals to revolutionize the construction and control of quantum computers, accelerating their arrival. 

We are looking for a quantum software physicist with peer-reviewed scientific contributions in quantum information science and computing, and strong software developing skills, who can quickly grasp the essence of complex quantum experiments and has a passion for solving intricate problems across the entire stack. The candidate should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

As a Quantum Software Physicist, you will contribute to developing novel multi-qubit calibration schemes. You will work in a small multi-disciplinary team with an immediate goal to enable seamless quantum computing on the cloud. This includes enhancing the performance of the QPU, developing higher level tools and frameworks, supporting the development and optimization of the user interface, creating documentation and directly communicating with users. 

Key Requirements: 

  • MSc/PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related field. 
  • 3+ years of experience in quantum information processing or quantum computing (MSc/PhD included). 
  • Advantage: experience working with superconducting qubits and cryogenic systems. 
  • Peer-reviewed scientific publications in quantum information science and quantum computing 
  • Excellent practical programming and coding skills, and proficiency in Python. 
  • Advantage: experience in other programming languages (C++, Go, Rust...) 
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; high level of independence. 
  • Can-do attitude, self-motivated and ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams. 
  • Advantage: exposure to HPC and parallel programming. 

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Actively contribute to the creation, maintenance and optimization of automated calibration graph based on Quantum Machines hardware and software 
  • Delve into deep and novel physical problems and contribute to a fast and effective solution, while driving technology forward. 
  • Contribute to adaptation of new technologies at the IQCC 
  • Support the integration of quantum computers to HPC all the way to the UI 
  • Develop new tools and frameworks to bridge the gap between classical and quantum computers. 
  • Onboard customers to the IQCC and work with them to meet their needs and materialize their research ideas. 
  • Support lab maintenance and development of the physical systems 
  • Actively contribute to documentation to enable easy onboard process for IQCC customers. 
  • Support education programs at the IQCC, educating the next generation of quantum computing experts in Israel.
