Prof. Dr. Marius Grundmann is co-founder and CEO of SaxonQ, a University of Leipzig spin-off developing room-temperature, diamond-based NV-center quantum computers. He is Professor of Experimental Physics and Semiconductor Physics at Leipzig University, where he also serves as Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Earth System Sciences. With nearly 700 peer-reviewed publications and 40 years of experience in semiconductor physics, Grundmann has led SaxonQ’s development of a patented sulfur co-implantation process that raised NV-center qubit fabrication yield from roughly 10% to 85%, enabling the company’s SXQ128 and SXQ512 systems — the first diamond-based NV-center processors to exceed ten physical qubits.
As NV-center diamond qubits move from single-qubit lab demonstrations to multi-core, commercially available systems, precise and scalable control becomes the critical bottleneck. In this…
